This is the front door to the house. As you can see, the house is a contemporary. It has fairly new vinyl siding, and a nice double pane storm door to keep winter outside, and so your main door can be left open to enjoy spring, summer and fall foliage. It's in a great, wooded location, with some terrific trees in the back yard (which we'll be seeing soon). |
Here I have walked into the house, and have turned around to look back out the front door. You will find new tile in the hallway (it's vinyl, not ceramic), and you will note the door to the coat closet for your guests to hang their wraps when they attend your incredible parties. (Barbeques in the backyard, perhaps?) |
Turning around again and walking into the house, I have come to the living room. This is the back wall, showing the view out into your back yard. Notice the full privacy fencing all around (the fence is going to need some work, if you want to corral dogs in it), as well as the mature trees that are on and surrounding the property. You can also see the newly painted walls (the whole house has been painted). And, yes, that is a window air conditioner you see there. But, it's no longer there. The house was built in the days before air conditioning, and had oil heat, but I have updated the house to have electric central heat and air conditioning. Modern, efficient furnace and air conditioner! Much better than the old oil and window units. That back wall, by the way, is 16 feet long, so it should accommodate your enormous entertainment center very nicely. |
Here I've turned to my left, still in the living room, but now you can see the kitchen, ahead on the left, and the dining room, ahead on the right. That's the washer/dryer that you're seeing in the kitchen; the house isn't very large (but it's not $2,400.00/month, either!), so you have to fit things where you can. Lots can fit in the kitchen, though; it's 14 feet wide! The tile in the kitchen and dining room has once again been replaced (vinyl again, not ceramic). Notice how nice and sunny the dining room looks --- that's a bonus of contemporary houses, they tend to have large and lots of windows. We'll see more in the bedrooms (hopefully, you're a sun lover!) The door that you see on the far side of the dining room goes out to the side yard, which is behind the privacy fencing. All the carpeting in the house is brand new, by the way. |
This is the window in the dining room that let in all that sun we saw in the previous picture. Oh -- you will notice that these are high quality, double pane, vinyl sided replacement windows -- all the windows in the house are of the same type. |
Going into the kitchen now, you can see your suite of appliances -- refrigerator, stove and dishwasher (and, yes, there is a kitchen sink, with a garbage disposal, a bit to the right, along the countertop) -- as well as several areas of storage space. The countertops in the kitchen are brand new, by the way. We'll see even more storage space coming up! |
We had seen a tease of the washer and dryer in the kitchen, in a previous picture, but check this out: More storage space in the kitchen next to them. So you should have plenty of room to prepare for those lavish parties we talked about way back in the second picture. (And make sure you invite me!) If I looked to my left behind me, I'd see the sink and its countertop, along the front wall of the house -- we saw the countertop leading to the sink in the previous picture. |
This is the front bedroom; the window to the right looks out the front of the house, and the window to the left looks out the side of the house. Again, notice the double pane, vinyl sided replacement windows; you'll see them all over the house, and I won't mention them again. This bedroom is about 12' x 10', although the wall by the door (which is directly behind me as I snap this picture) is only 8' long, from the front of the house to the opening for the door. Oh -- it just seems so natural, that I forgot to mention it -- there are two windows in this bedroom! A lot of houses you look at, you'll see one window in each room. But, like I said before, contemporaries have a lot of windows. Plus, this house was built a while ago (1956), back when builders didn't skimp on windows. Although you can see that I've kept everything within the house in decent shape for all those years -- or at least since I've owned the house. |
Something else builders didn't skimp on back then -- ceiling fixtures. Every bedroom in this house has a ceiling fixture -- take a look at a new house, and you'll be lucky if you can find any. Every bedroom also has a closet, of course; you can see the front bedroom's closet in this picture, with hanging and flat storage space. |
This is the back bedroom, behind the bedroom we were just in. The window to the right looks out the same side of the house as does the side window in the front bedroom. And the window to the left looks out to the back yard. It looks like a jungle out there! If you like green things and flowers and stuff like that, this is a perfect opportunity for you! This bedroom is 12' x 12', with the wall containing the door being 10' long, going away from the back wall of the house (the wall to the left in this picture). The closet in this room is to the right behind me, and you can easily see where the ceiling fixture is. |
The middle bedroom is next to the back bedroom, also against the back of the house. Since it's in the middle of the house, it can only have one window (sigh), overlooking the back yard. The back bedroom, which we were just in, is off to the right (that wall isn't shown in this picture), and the living room (which we've already seen) is on the other side of the wall to the left. The middle bedroom is also the smallest bedroom, measuring 10' x 9'. The 9' is along the rear wall, in which you see the window. The 10' is the wall to the living room, although that wall on the living room side is actually 13', since it includes space for the closet in the middle bedroom. The living room is an irregular shape (not unusual in a contemporary), but the two longest walls are 16' (we've already seen that wall with the back window), and 13'. |
We've almost finished our tour of the inside of the house, but I guess we can't leave until we've seen the bathroom, can we? New tile on the floor, an easy to clean plastic surround around the tub, looks pretty much like a bathroom. There's even a sink in there, too. Yes, there is just one bathroom in the house, which makes it a problem if you have a large family or are excessively vain, but that's part of the reason that I've priced the house at only $1,400. |
Time for a tour of the back yard. This is the driveway, on the left side of the house as you face it from the street. The two windows you see in the picture are to the kitchen. Oh -- that's worth noting, too -- you have ample off-street parking here -- your own personal driveway. Behind the driveway, you can see the privacy fence, which extends all the way around the back of the house. There's a gate where those lighter colored boards are (some had rotted away and had to be replaced). You can also see the dining room door behind the fence. |
And here we are looking in through that dining room door. The tile in the dining room has been changed, since this picture has been taken, and you can see the living room beyond. The edge of the fence against the house can be seen to the right -- we're behind the fence now -- in our own private, fenced yard! |
Here's the back yard, looking back from the house to the shed. The shed is a good size, and will let you store all kinds of extra stuff that you don't want to keep in the house. Again, you can see all the lovely trees in the neighborhood, and you will also note that the yard is flat, so you can set up a volleyball net or a badminton net or a hot tub or a swimming pool or have whatever kind of bacchanalias you want behind your privacy fencing. Well, if you get too loud and wild, I bet that the neighbors will figure out a way to peek over or through. And it looks like you might want to plant some grass seed back here ... |
Walking around the fence from the previous picture, past the shed and around to the right, we come back to the house, where we'll complete our tour for today. Check out those great trees, providing cooling shade for the summer. It's gonna save on your summer electric bills. And, the trees are very cooperative -- they lose their leaves in the winter, so the sun can get through, to help you save on your heating bills. There's that air conditioner in the living room window, that's no longer there, since you now have centrail air. To the left of that you see the windows to the middle bedroom (in the middle) and the back bedroom (on the left). |
